JVC Digital Video Camera
After holding out for years, I recently got a JVC digital video camera.
I say holding out for years, because I have an older brother who is an amateur filmmaker, and perhaps the greatest fan that the JVC digital camcorder ever had.
He went straight from an antiquated, almost quaint Super 8 to his JVC digital video camera, so perhaps it was not that much work to impress him, but still - I have rarely seen someone who was as enthusiastic to endorse a product as my brother was about that JVC digital video camera.
It was almost like he liked the camera more than he liked making films.
Now that I have my own JVC digital video camera, I have to admit that it really is a neat thrill to be able to record your own movies. The quality is rather incredible - not like those feature length Hollywood movies, but I guess the next best thing.
Provided that you pay appropriate attention to things like lighting, and maybe invest in a good sound boom, you can do almost anything that you want with a JVC digital video camera for almost nothing but the price of the camcorder and some editing software to mix your movie together.
I did not even realize how much I would like to make my own movie until I got my JVC digital camcorder, but now I have the bug for sure. As much as I have always liked to watch movies, there is nothing that compares to the thrill of making my own. It has become not only one of my favorite artistic activities, but one of my favorite social ones as well.
I get my friends together, write down some script notes and maybe a little dialog, and then take out the JVC digital video camera and the sound boom and go to work. It is usually only a couple of weekends from start to finish for a pretty good twenty minute film. If we like what we did a lot, we will get together the following weekend, watch it together, and rework the script in greater detail. But, even for the final project, the JVC digital video camera works just fine for making the video.
We have even entered our movies into a few amateur movie competitions, and although we have not won anything yet, we sure have got a good bit of positive feedback.
